This is an explanation for those who don't get it. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles live in the sewer. Mario is known to take a trip into the sewers as well. Mario also known for stopping turtles and killing them.
There are three shells lying on the ground. There's one in the foreground, and two in the background. None of the ninjas made it. Too bad. :(
I did think that guy was Jason. Maybe the axe is the artist's nudge at the similarities in appearance between Jason and Casey. Could be a double-entendre, as well, because if it were Jason, he would be a "softy" (Josh) compared to Mario.
Now rip me a new ***hole for stating the obvious!
